From Ferdinand von Mueller to John Shillinglaw   7 Apr 1880

7/4/80.

Allow me to ask you, dear Mr Shillinglaw, whether perhaps you have on loan my copy of the English Edition of Labillardière (voyage in search of Lapérouse).1 I want the work for a note on Eucalypts (for my Euc. Atlas),2 and am missing it in my library. So in all probability one of my friends had it, but I cannot remember, with whom it may be. Excuse kindly my enquiry.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

MS annotation by Shillinglaw: 'No'. A copy of this work (Labillardière (1800a)) is in the library at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, presumably the copy listed in the catalogue in M to J. McCulloch, 30 September 1865.

B80.13.14; the first Decade of Eucalyptographia referring to Labillardière is Decade 5.

MS annotation by Shillinglaw: 'ansd 10.V.80'. Letter not found.
