Besten Dank, lieber Herr Holtze, dass Sie meiner in ihrem Rapport so freundlich gedacht. Ihre Administration macht Ihnen alle Ehre, und wird zu schönen Resultaten führen.
Anbei frische Samen von 3 der besten Chinin-Pflanzen. Vielleicht ist das Clima dort zu trocken u zu heiss für solche Gebirgs Pflanzen, jedoch kann ein Versuch damit ja nicht schaden. Geschützte Lage wäre für diese Cinchonen dort wünschenswert.

Beachten Sie dort auch gütig Pilze aller Art. Auch alle Eucalypten empfehle ich Ihrer freundlichen Beobachtung, da mir einige Arten dort erst unvollkommen bekannt sind, u nach dem bisher vorliegenden Material in meinen Euc. Atlas nicht aufgenommen werden können.
Den plötzlichen Tod des armen Dr Scheffer werden auch Sie beklagen.

Enclosed fresh seeds of the three best quinine plants. Perhaps the climate is too dry and too hot there for such mountain plants; however, giving them a try can't do any harm. A protected position would be desirable there for these Cinchonas.

Please be so kind and take note of any fungi there. I also commend all eucalypts to your kind observation, as several species from there are only imperfectly known to me, and with the representative material available so far they cannot be included in my Eucalyptus Atlas.2
You, too, will be mourning the sudden death of poor Dr Scheffer.3
