Ihr freundlicher Brief v. 7. Mai, begleitet von einem Päckchen Pflanzen, lieber Herr Landsmann, kam gestern an, u freuet es mich, Sie in der dortigen Flora weiter Forschen zu sehen. Es ist gelungen, durch die Vermittlung meines Freundes Hr H Heuzenröder einen Landsmann in Adelaide, Hr. W. Nitschke (Hackney Road) bereit zu finden, ein paar Säcke Eucalyptus Blätter (Zweige) von jeder Ihrer Mallee-Arten abzudestilliren. Wenn Sie nun die Güte haben wollen, es einzurichten, dass etwa im Juli nach u nach das Laub an Herrn Nitschke gesandt wird, so werde ich mich Ihnen sehr verpflichtet fühlen und dankbar die Kosten des Sammelns zurückerstätten. Ich habe Herrn Nitschke gebeten, sich nun direct mit Ihnen in Verbindung zu setzen, damit er den genauen Zeitpunkt bestimme, wann seine Distillirapparate frei sind.

Your kind letter of 7 May,2 accompanied by a small parcel of plants, dear fellow countryman, arrived yesterday, and I am pleased to see you researching further in the flora there. I have succeeded through the agency of my friend Mr H. Heuzenröder to find a fellow countryman in Adelaide, Mr W. Nitschke (Hackney Road), prepared to distil a couple of sacks of Eucalyptus leaves (twigs) of each of your Mallee species. If you would now have the goodness to arrange it that in about July the foliage is sent now and then to Mr Nitschke, I will feel very obliged to you and gratefully refund the costs of collecting. I have asked Mr Nitsche to put himself directly in contact with you, so that he could decide the exact time when his distillation apparatus is free.
