My dear Baron von Mueller
Accept my sincere thanks for the copy of your very useful book on extra Tropical plants3 The copy you have so kindly sent me I would like to keep in my own library both on account of its intrinsic value and as a remembrance of an old friend. But I would also wish to have a copy for our dept. [...]4 Either for purchase or in Exchange for any of the publications of the Canadian Geol Survey which I hope you receive regularly. I have been very busy all summer removing our Museum & headquarters from Montreal, where they have been for nearly forty years, to this the political Capital of the Dominion. In some respects the change will I hope prove beneficial but it involves a great amount of labour and anxiety as well as disruption to my work. Your old aid Mr [Hoffmann] now presides in our laboratory & is doing good work tho' much of his time is occupied in giving information [to the public].

I never hear now from my old Colleagues Newbery & Ulrich,6 are they still connected with the Melbourne Museum? I send our reports regularly to the Royal Society of Victoria but receive nothing in exchange. I would be glad to have a set of the Society Transactions for our library & any other Victorian scientific publications. With much kind regards believe me always sincerely
