To Joseph Hooker   7 October 1881

7/10/81.1

Being in sparehours engaged on work concerning polynesian plants, dear Sir Joseph, I like to ask you, whether any special memoirs have very recently appeared on any of the South Sea Island plants. You can readily imagine, that here - at such a distance and with such slender means, the literature of the day does come only very imperfectly under my notice, and that I get real access to new publications more imperfectly still.

As I have on many occasions afforded information to Kew, I feel sure, that with your usual willingness to aid others, you will kindly enlighten me on this subject.

Regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller2
