From the N.Z. journal of science I learn, dear Mr Buchanan,1 that Epiblema grandiflorum has been found in the Northern Island of New Zealand;2 though this is very remarkable, yet the distribution of swamp-plants ranges in many cases so capriciously and widely, that in all probability your species is identical with ours.
Still I should like to compare a specimen from thence with some gathered by myself in West-Australia, if you will spare me one. If not already sent to Kew for identification I shall write a note on the subject for publication in New Zealand.3
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
