From John McKibbin to Ferdinand von Mueller   22 Apr 1882

Victoria Parade

Maryborough1

22/4/82

Just as I received your last note,2 Dear Baron, I had collected my first autumn orchids as you stated. No 1 which was out of bloom when I arrived here last August, although the leaf still remained and much resembles Glossodia majors leaf but deeper veins — No 2 has just appeared since our light rain a few days since

The drought here has parched the ground so much that all herbage is burned up & will be some time before we see all the autumn & winter orchids here —

yours very obedly

J N McKibbin

Baron Von Mueller KCMG M.D &c &c
