Hiermit die Namen Ihrer letzten Pflanzen, lieber Herr Tepper, so weit ich solche inmitten meiner Amtsarbeiten gerade gleich zu geben vermag. Ist Herr Neumann, der das kl. Farnkraut sandte, der einzige Sohn des Herrn Neumann der mit mir in demselben Schiffe aus Europe kam?

Herewith the names of your last plants, dear Mr Tepper,1 as far as I am able to give them right now in the midst of my official work. Is Mr Neumann, who sent the little fern, the only son of the Mr Neumann who came out with me on the same ship from Europe?2

The passenger list for the voyage of Hermann von Beckerath to Adelaide in1847 shows Ferdinand Friedrich Wilhelm Neumann and his wife Wilhelmina traveling with two sons, Gustav aged 11 and Carl aged 8½, and also Wilhelmina's brother Carl Schedlich.
