From Ferdinand von Mueller to James Pink   [Aug 1882]

[We are pleased to note that the curator of the Botanic Gardens, Mr. James Pink, has been informed by letter from Baron Mueller that at the half-yearly meeting of the Royal Horticultural Society, South Kensington, England, he (Mr. J. Pink) was duly elected fellow and corresponding member of that society.]

Letter not found. For the text given here, see Brisbane courier, 1 September 1882, p. 2. M's letter must have been written some days before the report was published. Pink was elected at a meeting of the Society held on 11 July 1882 (Morning post (London), 12 July 1882, p. 3, col. g), presumably on M's nomination but membership election records for the period cannot be found.
