To Edward Ramsay   10 August 1882

10/8/82

Among what arrived from you to day, dear Mr Ramsay, and for which I am much beholden to you, the fruits of the Cycas interested me particularly. It is the first testimony of a Cycas existing in the Solomon-Group and — so far as can be judged from the fruits alone, it is identical with C. Seemanni1 (Alex Braun) from Fiji. To confirm the identity, it would be desirable to get the male flowers, a few fruit-stalkes and a portion of leaf and the whole leafstalk.

I have just a short article on the Fiji-Cycas passing through the press, & can therefore mention at once this contribution of yours. 2 If you can procure other material of Cycadeae from the S. Sea Islands, I shall feel obliged.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.
