From Jacob Agardh1    11 September 1882

Lund 11 Sept. 1882.

Hochgeehrter Herr Baron!

Hochachtend zeichnet

J G Agardh

Lund 11 September 1882.

Highly esteemed Baron!

I suspect that you have long ago received my letter8 with the name determinations of algae that were collected by Spong in King Island,9 from Ramsay at Port Jackson and from Tepper at Vincents Gulf.10 At the same time I have written to Mrs Sonder on sending the algae, but she was at that time on a journey to Mecklenburg and I received her answer only in a letter of 31 July. She says that she will be pleased if I should take over the working up of the algae. As soon as she comes back to Hamburg, she will have the algae collection sent to me. Later I have heard nothing of it. In the last two sendings of 11 July and 17 July only one form is new; but this is of interest as one of the previously known species of Melanthalia, which very much brings together well separated species. Of the remainder, which belong to nearly all the most common Australian species, I have retained some fragments or one specimen where several were available.

Very respectfully subscribes

J. G. Agardh
