I forgot to mention, dear Mr Ramsay, in my letter this morning,1 that the "Seagrasses" or rather oceanic Monocotyledoneae are not at all well known from N. S. W. They are not numerous in kind, but very interesting in Structure of their generally minute flowers & fruits, the latter often much concealed. Moreover they form marine pastures for fish & other animals of the ocean, and are thus of interest to the Zoologists Thus the Dugong migrates to the various submarine pastures in season; but I never was able, to get a specimen of the "Dugong Seagrass", though it abounds in some of the shallow Bays of East Australia.
