Some time ago, dear Prof. Tate, I had made some notes on the curious little Composite, which you collected on 2 Oct. 1880 near Wellington,1 and of which you sent me a specimen some months ago. Only now I have in connection with other work on allied plants completed the elaboration. It is pleasing to me, that thus I can furnish again some slight contribution to the publication of the R. S.2 of S.A., and pay you some homage at the same time.3 I look forward with great interest to you4 essay on the Kang. Isl. Flora. The notes, which you wished, were furnished some days ago, concerning former collectors there.5
The Universal Census6 is now ready, the index having gone through the press, but the copies have yet to be bound; so some little delay will still arise, before any can go out complete.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
