To Ralph Tate   27 April 1883

27/4/83

While the heavy work for the Census 1 went on, dear Prof. Tate, I occasionally had to trust to my memory, as I have mislaid the list of S. A 2 plants, which I wrote from 1847-1852. I hope to find it, while a general rearrangement of my correspondence and manuscripts will take place in May this year, after moving three times within the last 10 years into different quaters . Of my earliest collections I did not keep complete sets for want of space; I am certain, that when I come to a further revision of my supplemental collections, got after the successive volumes of the Flora were issued, 3 I shall be able to give yet many more plants for S. A.

I miss many plants, concerning which in 1882 I gave you notes as S. Australian species, for instance Peplidium Muelleri, Between Finke-River and Lake Eyre, Giles.

Best thanks for the extraprints of Tatea. 4

Regardfully your

Ferd von Mueller.

Postscript

I forget, that Peplidium &c were published already, at the end of last year's volume. 5 I suppose, that you will keep the new addenda also together for the closing of the last part in 1883.
