From Ferdinand von Mueller to Jacob Agardh   17 May 1883

17/5/83

17/5/83]

Having already sent you, highly esteemed Professor, two parcels of splendid specimens of algae (collected at the entrance into Port Phillip by Professor J. B. Wilson) by this mail,1 a small parcel of algae from New South Wales arrived, from where until now only very little was known algologically, and where the oceanic flora is also very poor in every respect. For the latter reason, I am sending you the lot, so that you can note the new area of distribution for your larger works.

If you are willing to return (to my address) to the clergyman who sent this, small pieces for reference, I should be very glad. Best greetings your

Ferd. von Mueller

We do not need anything back from the algae of Wilson's consignment.

The covering letters that M presumably sent with the parcels have not been found, but see J. Agardh to M, 4 August 1883.
