From Ralph Tate to Ferdinand von Mueller   26 May 1883

May 26. 1883

My Dear Baron.

Your note re occurrence of Pteris arguta at Streaky Bay1 to hand.2 Mrs Richards gave me a specimen which I named P. jucisa,3 from my S. East example, of which I enclose a pinna that you may identify it with P. arguta. If it be that species then I have no specimen of P. jucisa.

I have reason to suspect that the Streaky Bay plant has been planted, because the position of the mansion of a squatter having some connection with the South East accords with the station given by Mrs. Richards for the fern.

I have an additional species of Pultenaea from Kangaroo Id4 represented by an old fruiting specimen only; it appears to come near P. hibbertioides, the young branches are viscid. I must send you the specimen for inspection

Yrs very truly

Ralph Tate
