From Edwin Haviland to Ferdinand von Mueller   11 June 1883

Sydney 11 June 1883

Baron Von Mueller

My Dear Sir

I should esteem it a favor, if you would tell me the name of the enclosed Lobelia. I cannot make it agree, satisfactorily, with any species in the "Flora Australiensis"1; and yet, the peculiar falcate sections of the lower lobe of the corolla, should make it easy to identify. You must pardon my troubling you with this matter, but Dr Woolls, who so kindly assists me, is away from home at present, and I am making up a small parcel of specimens to send by a friend to England, and I wish to include this lobelia.

I have collected some fungs: lichens &c which I shall send you by a friend who will, I expect, visit Melbourne shortly, will you kindly give me the exact address of your office in Melbourne that he may leave the parcel there for you.

Yours faithfully

E. Haviland

Kindly address me to, c/o Messrs D Cooper & Co — You need not return the specimen.
