From Ferdinand von Mueller to Cuthbert Blackett   5 Oct 1883

5/10/83.

It seems to me, dear Mr Blackett, that the quantity of 100 grammes leaves to 100 cubic centimeters Alcohol is very large as regards leaves in proportion to the Alcohol. Could there be an error. To my mind the expression fluid extract is very misleading. Why not call it simply an alcoholic tincture as in olden times?1

Text ends at the bottom of the page but without valediction; the letter may have continued on a further page. Blackett's account being commented upon has not been identified.
