From Ferdinand von Mueller to John Buchanan   9 Oct 1883

9/10/83

I am not at all sure, dear Mr Buchanan,1 whether I acknowledged either to you or to Dr Hector the receipt of the very acceptable parcel of alpine plants, received some months ago. Extra duties for the Calcutta-Exhibition,2 unusually heavy departmental work and impaired health brought much my correspondence into arrear. So my friends must be charitable with me!

The Haloragis sent as H. tetragyna from Lake Ohau3 is H. depressa, for which Walpers long before Sir J Hooker was the authority.4

I hope soon to have an opportunity of revising Antennaria, Raoulia and the allied genera5

I must try to get a little leisure, so that I make up in reciprocity a parcel of plants for you.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.
