[The tenth Annual Meeting of the Microscopical Society of Victoria was held on Thursday evening last, the President, Dr. Ralph, occupying the chair. A letter was received from Baron von Mueller, expressing his regret that illness prevented him from being present.]
Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Microscopical Society of Victoria', Australian medical journal, 15 November 1883, p. 494. The letter is dated to the day of the meeting, (see Age, 27 October 1883, p. 2), as M's usual practice when he could not attend meetings in Melbourne was to apologise in a letter written on the day of the meeting, or rarely the day before.
