Es ist sehr freundlich von Ihnen, geehrter Herr Tepper, dass Sie mir Ihr populäres Werk über die Pflanzen der Nachbarschaft von Adelaide mit zueignen wollen, u werde ich auf diese Anerkennung ganz stolz sein. So hat unsere Correspondenz ja auch literarische Rückwirkung auf Pflanzenkunde gehabt! Ich leide seit 3 Monaten an eine schweren Bronchial Entzündung, u bin an die Küste gezogen, um in der jetzt warmen Seeluft Besserung zu suchen.
Ihnen ein fröhliches Weihnachtsfest u glückliches Neujahr wünchend, bin ich der Ihre.

It is very kind of you, esteemed Mr Tepper, that you intend to dedicate your popular work on the plants of the neighbourhood of Adelaide to me as well,1 and I will be quite proud of this acknowledgment. So our correspondence has indeed also had literary repercussions on plant studies! For three months I have been suffering from a heavy bronchial inflammation and I have moved to the coast to seek recovery in the now warm sea air.

No such work has been identified, nor is it mentioned in the partial listing of Tepper's publications in Kraehenbuehl (1969).
MS annotation by Tepper: '19.12.83'. This probably the date that M's letter was received, since Tepper's annotations usually make it clear if a letter has been sent on the date he has written. No letter to M has been found with that date.
