The last mail, rev. and dear Sir, brought me the enclosed letter1 from the great Vienne Linguist, Professor Müller,2 to whom I had sent your most valuable publications3 on the language of the Duke of York Islanders.4 Prof Müller bestows on you and your collaborator the recognition so richly due to you. I enclose his letter

It is not known which publications were sent. Possibilities include: G. Brown (1877), which has some preliminary vocabulary lists on pp. 146-8; Brown, Danks & Rooney (1882); and Brown & Danks (1883).
Now part of East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea.
