To Thomas Wilson   15 February 1884

Melbourne,

15th. febr.1884.

T. R. Wilson Esqr,

Undersecretary.

Sir.

I have the honor to inform you, that I shall avail myself now of the kind permission of the hon. Graham Berry, to proceed for a few weeks to some mild sheltered Forestregion of Gippsland,1 as the cough, which has harrassed me for some months, is not subdued yet.2 The cold rainy weather some time ago and also urgent office-obligations rendered it for me not possible to start earlier. After the heavy rains of late, the locality of Warregal3 would likely be to wet for me; so I intend to proceed to Drouin,4 from whence I can at any time return in a few hours, should my personal attendence be requisite in any official matter in Melbourne. I beg to add, that — as at Clifton Spring5 — I shall also be engaged during my stay in Gippsland daily in departmental work, whether litterary or correspondence, as all the letters, arriving at my Office, will be sent on to me

I have the honor to be Sir,

your obedient servant

Ferd. von Mueller
