My dear Baron

Herewith is a plant that is coming up in my garden & paddock at Elsternwick1 & which neither my gardner nor Brunning2 has seen before.

Its flower is yellow in the paddock and white in the garden. It throws up seed spikes about three feet high

I shall feel obliged if you can let me know the name of this plant.

Yours truly

F. T. Sargood

Melbourne suburb.

The nurseryman George Brunning.

MS found with a specimen of Verbascum blattaria (MEL 2253943). MS annotation by M: 'Answ 20/3/84 FvM'. Letter not found.
