Dear Baron Mueller

I am very glad to hear that you have somewhat recovered from your late illness — with this I forward a specimen (only a poor one but the best I have) of Cleisostoma Keffordii also Acrostichum Taylori and a specimen of a large form of Syncarpia laurifolia I have named after Mr Hill I have also enclosed a few composites that puzzle me please name them for me and obilige

Yours truly

F. M. Bailey

1This is a form (I should have liked to have found it differing sufficient for a specific distinction) found by Mr Hill on Frasers Island2 — I have therefore placed his name to it — Syncarpia laurifolia var Hillii I think you will agree there is a greater distinction between these two trees than many Eucalypts looked upon as distinct species3—F.M.B4

Acrostichum Taylori

Cleisostoma Keffordii

Eucalyptus

Syncarpia lauriflia var Hillii

Syncarpia laurifolia

The following text is from a slip attached to the specimen sheet.
Fraser Island, Qld.
I think … distinct species on the reverse of the slip.
Syncarpia hillii was named in Bailey (1884), p. 86.
