To Joseph Maiden1    5 August 1884

5/8/84

With best thanks, dear Mr Maiden, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of the twelve guineas draft,2 which has at once been forwarded to Mr Ch. Walter, whose signature has been received to the two vouchers, herewith returned. It was very pleasing to me, to receive the letter of acknowledgement from the trustees,3 for which I beg to render my grateful acknowledgement.

Let me advise you, to reserve of all kinds of woods, which you may get shaped for your ordinary collection, an4 piece to be formed in book-pattern, as you will find that such is a handy form to examine wood samples with readiness.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller
