We the undersigned beg to propose for the fellowship of the Linnean Society Will. A. Haswell Esq., M.A.2 B.Sc. Edin3, Acting Director of the Sydney Museum, who by his extensive original researches in zoology, particularly into the marine fauna of Australia, is well entitled to this distinction.

The document is dated to September 1884 as the latest it could have been sent to be read at the meeting of 6 November, the first meeting of the new session. The previous session ended with a meeting on 19 June 1884, and another nomination by M read at the November meeting was sent earlier; see M to the Linnean Society of London, 21 May 1884 (in this edition as 84-05-21a).
