From Ferdinand von Mueller to Maurice Holtze   12 Oct 1884

12/10/84

12/10/84

While looking through a few plants today, respected Mr Holtze, I find that your No. 3961 is Gossypium flaviflorum. This lovely species has only been known from the Glenelg River2 so far, and no fruit has been collected of it anywhere.

I hope to hear from you soon.

With most friendly greetings

Ferd. von Mueller.

Have you never heard of the tree ferns that are said to grow in the vicinity of the Glenelg River?

Gossypium flaviflorum

See M to M. Holtze, August 1884 (in this edition as 84-08-00), where M was less definite in identifying the specimen as G. flaviflorum.

i.e. Glenelg River, WA.
