26/11/84.

In answer to your letter of 29 October from New Caledonia,1 I should like to remark that in any case I will not be very far from Melbourne when you arrive here, should I have gone into the country on account of my health. My office is at Arnold Street, South Yarra (quite near Melbourne). The omnibuses depart every 10 minutes in daylight hours from the General Post Office. I am looking forward very much to making your esteemed acqaintance and I will introduce you, the highly celebrated diatom researcher, to our microscopical society during your stay.2

It is to be hoped you have quite recovered from the dysentry. The Azolla that you sent me is A. magellanica var rubra.3

Respectully
