Melbourne, 2/12/84.
This evening, dear Mr Le Meslée,1 I received your kind letter of yesterday, also the proof of the print of my inaugural adress;2 the corrected proof is returned herewith. You will ere this have received an answer from Mr M'Donald,3 expressive of the delight of the Victorian Council, that the parent-society will be represented here at our general meeting by its distinguished President,4 by Dr Belgrave and yourself. Our honorary Secretary will have told you of our special arrangements here; also that we will be happy to enter on a joint discussion of the questions so thoughtfully submitted to us, (and of some others, to be brought forward by us here) on the days after our general meeting here. We will have in a day or two an other Council-Meeting here, after which you will receive further communications from us.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
