Heute, lieber Herr Holtze, versuchte ich Ihren Trichosanthus zu beschreiben, N. 432 (die Cucurbitacee mit weissen gefranzten Blumen; da aber die Früchte fehlen, kann ich die Beschreibung nicht vollenden. Würden Sie mir einige Früchte u noch mehr Blumen u Blätter mit Post senden?

Today, dear Mr Holtze, I tried to describe your Trichosanthus No. 4321 (the Cucurbitacea with white fringed flowers). However, as the fruits are lacking, I cannot complete the description. Would you send me a few fruits and also more flowers and leaves by mail?2

Trichosanthes? See M to M. Holtze, December 1886 (in this edition as 86-12-00); M to M. Holtze, 3 December 1886 (in this edition as 86-12-03b); and M to M. Holtze, 12 December 1886.
M described the species, without seeing the fruit, as Trichosanthes holtzei in B86.12.01, p. 447, from the specimen MEL 100084.
