My dear Baron

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your esteemed favour of the 1st April.

Permit me in the first instance to tender you my own personal thanks for the efforts which have resulted in the valuable gifts refered to therein, and let me beg you to convey my best thanks to the Hon the Premier and to Professor McCoy for this presentation from the Government of Victoria to our Scientific Institut.

I shall immideately report in detail to the Minister of the Imperial and Royal Government on this munificent Contribution of the Victorian Government and from him direct you will receive an acknowledgement of this generous Gift, and on the arrival of the shipment for the safety of which I shall cause all care to be taken.

may I beg you to make the Contents of this letter known to the Hon James Service, Premier of Victoria, and to Professor McCoy, and to assure both of my kindly remembrance and grateful feeling.
