To Joseph Hooker   4 May 1885

4/5/85.1

Herewith, dear Sir Joseph, I send an Acrostichum from the higher mountains of New Guinea, which appears to me new and very distinct; - still it seems better, that I should submit it to Kew for comparison, where anyhow it will prove of some value as regards locality. I should like it named A. Gulliveri in honor of Mr Th Gulliver F L S., Telegraph-Master of Townsville,2 who spent over £150 (very partly only recovered money)in obtaining collections of plants and anthropologic articles from the Astrolabe mountain through Mr Edelfelt.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

I have only one more specimen, (fertile), which is somewhat larger than that numbered [1]05.3 Veins anastomosing. Mr Edelfelts collections (entre nous) are excessively poor and gathered without any real knowledge and discrimination4
