From Ferdinand von Mueller to Robert Watson   15 July 1885

Melbourne,

15/7/85.

Rob. Watson Esqr,

Engineer in Chief of Railways

The sample of wood and the branchlets, just sent by you, dear Mr Watson,1 belong to Eucalyptus Leucoxylon, and I have only to add to my former Report,2 that it would be well, to guard against timber of that species to be taken from too wet localities, and to see that no other species of trees are taken by mistake for Eucalyptus Leucoxylon, which can always fairly well be distinguished either by its flowers or by its fruits.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.3

Eucalyptus Leucoxylon
