For the text given here of what was almost certainly a telegram, see Linnean Society of New South Wales (1885), p. 2, where it is introduced as follows: 'The following congratulatory message was read from Baron Von Mueller, of Melbourne'. The dedication ceremony of the new hall was held on 31 October 1885, and the item is dated to that following M's usual practice with such greetings, and on the assumption that it was a telegram.
