From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Weekly Times   [Nov 1885]1

[Specimen of Weed and Shrub.— Ethalrad, Chiltern.2 — Baron von Mueller states that the weed with the small, white flowers is the annual English Gromwell, or "Stone-seed" (Lithospernum3 arvense). This weed does not contain any noxious principles, but as it readily disseminates, it may became troublesome on cereal fields and other cultivated ground. The shrub, of which only leaves are sent, seems to be the North American Ribes aurem4 (Golden-flowered Currant), but to make sure the flowers would also be required for examination.]
