From Ferdinand von Mueller to Albert Grunow   12 Dec 1885

Perhaps you will feel very deceived, noble friend, when you receive the few things from Sonder's collection as supplementary material for your fine work on Sargassum.1 S. filare2 and S. fuliginosum are not included at all in our dear lamented friend's collection.

There were only fragments of S. baccularia and S. distichum to send off. Should these not be sufficient for you, I'll send the unicum of both these in toto.

I am extremely pressed with work for the Colonial Exhibition for London,3 then also in addition by the geographical society here, and I have three works in the press at the same time. I must therefore be brief.

After February I hope to have more leisure and shall then write at more length to you and other friends.

With the sincerest wishes for your well-being

Ferd. von Mueller
