I have the honor to report that the volume on myoporinous plants1 with 75 quarto illustrations will be ready in the Gov. Printing Office in the course of this month, and beg to solicit, that a copy may be forwarded to the hon. James Service,2 to whom this book is dedicated.
I beg further to ask, that a copy be sent to the Victorian Court of the London Exhibition,3 also that two copies be granted for the use of my Department.

M's request was forwarded for the approval of the Premier on 21 May 1886. M's request was approved by the Premier and referred to the Government Printer, who as instructed sent M's copies directly to him and the copies for Service and for the Exhibition, along with two copies of M's Key to the system of Victorian plants, to the Chief Secretary's Department for forwarding to the Agent General, Graham Berry, in London. On 28 August the Secretary to the Premier, E. Thomas, minuted: 'The Books have, with the Premier's approval, been supplied in conformity with the within request'. M was informed of the action on 31 August and he replied on 1 September: 'Returned with grateful acknowledgment.' On 1 October 1886, Berry wrote to the Premier saying that he had received the letter advising him of the transmission of the books and that he would forward them to their respective destinations a soon as they arrived (P86/3448, unit 145, VPRS 1163/P1, PROV).
