The heading 'Lichenes' [Lichens] has been added by Tepper at the top of the list.

Cladonia squamosa?

P. tribacia? In the printed version of the list, the name appeared as P. tribacnia.

Given incorrectly as Thelaschistes chrysophthalmus in the printed version; not listed in Australian Lichen Name Index but listed as a Mediterranean species in http://www.irishlichens.ie/pages-lichen/l-181.html (both accessed 8 December 2019).

MS annotation, on a separate sheet of paper, in an unknown hand: '7.2.87. Mr Tepper's Lichen No. 155 Lecidea enteroleuca, Ach.' This name is included in the printed version at the end of the first list of lichens, preceded by 'auch' [also]. It was probably added in proof.

MS annotation by Tepper: 'MS. to be returned to J. G. O. Tepper'.

This section is on a separate sheet that has been pasted in. In the published version, the lichens listed in this section follow the fungi.

Pertusaria pustulata?

Tepper added the heading 'Fungi' above 'Peziza badia'.

Not listed in FNI (accessed 1 October 2020), but in Cooke (1892), p. 253.

Incorrectly spelled in the printed version as P. fumerata.

See M. Cooke to M, April 1886 (in this edition as 86-04-00h).

MS annotation by Tepper: 'Roy. Soc. Trans. 1886'. A date has been added in pencil in an unknown hand, '31.5.85'. MS is a set of lists of names in M's hand that have been assembled for publication. Tepper (1887) contains the information: the article is a note published as one of the Miscellanea in the volume covering meetings of the Royal Society of South Australia held from 10 November 1885 to 5 October 1886, but dates of presentation or receipt are not given for items in that section of the volume. The published list was introduced by

These were remitted to Baron Sir Ferd. von Mueller, K.C.M.G., &c, the eminent Government Botanist of Victoria, who most courteously submitted them to European specialists of note for identification, and sent me the list of names, being addenda to previous contributions.

The specimen numbers are omitted from the printed list, where instead a note of the year of collection, ranging from 1880 to 1884, is given for all but the second set of lichens.

A translation has been added, where required, in square brackets below the relevant line. The date used here is that noted by M on what was probably the last item included in the compilation, the list of fungi.
