To James Hector   27 July 1886

27/7/86.

Would you kindly inform me, dear Dr Hector, which of the N.Z. species of Fagus would be the most valuable, if anyone wished to cultivate them in fern tree-gullies here, and whether they are all easily germinating from seeds.

My work on Myoporinous plants with 76 Quarto-plates will soon appear, as it is in the binder's hands, when a copy will be sent to your institution.

Regardfully

your
