The branchlet and bark, sent by you, dear Mr Watson,1 belong to Eucalyptus Sieberiana, of which a rather full account is given in the Eucalyptography.2

On 29 September Watson noted to […] Darbyshire: 'I think the timber referred to might be used for […] structure of […] — it has the reputation of great strength the only drawback being that it is not durable in the ground it would not therefore do for piles and sleepers or culverts.'
