Erlauben Sie mir, hochgeehrter Herr Professor, die Vorfrage, ob ich durch Ihre Güte oder durch die Freundlichkeit eines Ihrer Herrn Collegen Original Exemplare von Swartz's Schizaea bifida u. S. dichotoma erhalten könnte, wenn auch nur fragmentarisch. Ich würde dann im Stande sein, einige Zweifel zu lösen in diesen Genus. Kann ich Ihnen etwas besonderes von hier senden? Ich bezog die schönen Abbildungen der Hymenomycetes von Fries käuflich durch meinen London Buchhändler. Den ausgezeichneten Professoren Areschoug und Berggren möchte ich als näheren Freunden besonders empfohlen bleiben.

Soll ich Ihnen gelegentlich eine Kiste voll roher Algen senden, die dort präparirt werden könnten.

Zu Ihrer schönen Erythraea Editionen könnte ich von hier zwei Formen beitragen. In welcher Zahl müssten solche gesammelt werden?

Sollte die Akademie dort die Reihe meiner Werke, von denen aber nur noch die neueren erlangbar sind, zu vervollständigen wünschen, so müsste deshalb ein Brief direct (ohne Bezugnehmen auf diesen Wink) an den "the honorable the Premier of Victoria, Melbourne" gerichtet werden, durch dessen Departement allein die Vertheilung der Gouvern. Publicationen geschieht.

Könnte Herr Dr. Nyman veranlasst werden, seinen schönen Conspectus florae Europae in eine systematische Form zu bringen, etwa wie mein Census of Australian plants, was ja so übersichtlich sein würde für phytogeographische Vergleiche.

Permit me, highly esteemed Professor, the request whether I could receive through your kindness or through the friendliness of your colleagues original specimens of Swartz's Schizaea bifida and S. dichotoma, even if only fragmentary. I would then be in a position to resolve some doubts in this genus. Can I send you something particular from here. I obtained the beautiful illustrations of Hymenomycetes of Fries¹ by purchase through my London book seller. I would like to be particularly recommended to the excellent professors Areschoug and Berggren as close friends.

Shall I send you a box full of raw algae now and again that could be prepared there.

I could contribute two forms from here to your beautiful Erythraea edition. In what numbers would they have to be collected?²

Should the Academy there desire to complete the series of my works, but of which only the more recent are still obtainable, a letter for that purpose would have to be addressed directly (without reference to this hint) to "the honorable the Premier of Victoria, Melbourne”, through whose department alone the distribution of the government publications occurs.

Could Dr Nyman be induced to bring his fine Conspectus florae Europae ³ into a systematic form, somewhat like my Census of Australian plants,⁴ which would indeed be so clear for phytogeographical comparison.
