M's letter was returned to him on 12 January 1887 minuted: 'No map of Victoria since 1882 with which I presume Govt Botanist is supd to have supplied'. M returned his request on 14 January, and his letter was referred to the Department of Lands on 18 January. The map sought has not been identified; it may have been 'the little map to the Key to the Plants' to which M refers in M to J. Ferres, 15 April 1887.
