Diesen Abend, lieber Herr Tepper, kam Ihre wichtige Sendung von Pflanzen der Känguruh-Insel an. Die niedliche Candollea (Stylidium) soll Ihnen gewidmet werden. 18 ist Lobelia rhombifolia, Vriese. Die blattlose Tetratheca ist auch interessant im Zusammenhang mit anderen unbeblätterten Arten.

Können Sie von Achnophora noch einige Exemplare ablassen? Sind die Strahlblumen weiss? Über die andere Pflanzen will ich auch später berichten. Würde eine baldige Beschreibung der Candollea noch vor Ihrer R.S. in den Jahrgang von 1886 aufgenommen werden? Es wäre schade, wenn die Veröffentlichung in das Jahr 1887 fallen müsste.

This evening, dear Mr Tepper, your important consignment of plants of Kangaroo Island2 arrived. The pretty Candollea (Stylidium) shall be dedicated to you.3 18 is Lobelia rhombifolia Vriese. The leafless Tetratheca is also interesting in connection with other leafless species.

Can you spare some more specimens of Achnophora? Are the ray florets white? I will also report later about the other plants. Would a rapid description of the Candollea still be accepted for your Royal Society in the year 1886? It would be a shame if the publication has to fall in 1887.

M described Candollea tepperiana in B87.01.01, referring to it in the body of the article, however, as 'Candollea or Stylidium Tepperi'! It was exhibited by Tepper as Stylidium Tepperiana at the meeting of the Royal Society of SA on 1 February 1887. The species was formally transferred to Stylidium by Mildbraed in Pflanzenreich 35, (1908), p. 69. See also M to O. Tepper, 23 December 1886.
