Ich möchte Sie bitten, lieber Herr Holtze, mir mitzutheilen, ob der "Water-Pandanus" bei Ihnen auch vorkommt. Ich meine die kleine Art, mit schlankem Stamme und nicht unter einander zusammen-gewachsenen Nüssen, obwohl solche auch einen Kopf bilden.
In der Verschiffung meiner Sammlungen vom Victoria-Flusse nach Sydney im Jahr 1856 gingen die Exemplare verloren, so dass diese merkwürdige Pflanze in meinem Herbarium hier jetzt gar nicht vertreten ist. Variirt die gewöhnliche Art bei Ihnen in der Grösse der Frucht? (P. odoratissimus). Können Sie ermitteln von den Dampfschiffs Leuten, wie weit südlich an der Westküste Pandanus odoratissimus u Cycas vorkommen.

I would like to ask you, dear Mr Holtze, to let me know, whether the 'water-Pandanus' occurs also in your area? I mean the small species, with a slim trunk and nuts that do not grow coalesced together among themselves, although they also form a head.
While shipping my collections from the Victoria River1 to Sydney in 1856 the specimens were lost, so that this strange plant is now not represented at all in my herbarium.2 Does the species vary in the size of the fruit with you? (P. odoratissimus). Can you find out from the steamship people, how far south on the west coast Pandanus odoratissimus and Cycas occur?
