In "Report of an Exploring Expedition across Australia by David Lindsay" (pp. 165-6) Lindsay wrote: 'From Dalhousie [SA] a collection of plants were sent to the Honorable The Minister For Education to be forwarded to Baron Von Mueller for classification. In this collection as well as in all others subsequently transmitted there were, as far as possible, three specimens of each plant so that one complete set could be kept by the Baron, and one by the Geographical Society leaving another for Lieutenant Dittrich and myself to dispose of as we might consider fit.'
