To Edward Ramsay   3 February 1887

3/2/87

A letter has just reached me, dear Dr Ramsay, from the greatest living Algologist, Prof. Agardh,1 in which he expresses his full concurrence with my views, that the Claudea Bennettiana must be transferred to an other genus, and that it is nearer Vanvorstia

But it may be, as he admits, the type of a new genus, should the fruits exhibit any particular peculiarities. Now, as you have discovered a new locality for this beautiful and rare plant, it would be well, if you could kindly follow up your discovery, so that also the fruit may be obtained and the other organs of propagation or generation. Of course you will get every acknowledgement.

Regardfully

your

Ferd. von Mueller.
