To Clements Markham   4 February 1887

4/2/87.

Possibly, dear Mr Markham, I sought already admission for Mr D. Lindsay into the RGS., but in the enormous turmoil of work here I cannot well keep records of all things, nor can I trust to my memory. So, if he be proposed already, this candidature paper will be annulled.1

Trusting that amidst your glorious exertions you remain happy and well,

your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Certificate of candidature not found. M had already arranged Lindsay's nomination; see the certificate, 24 January 1887 (in this edition as 87-01-24a), that had been completed in London on M's behalf.
