To Richard Owen   25 March 1887

25/3/87

It affords me particular pleasure, dear Sir Richard, to introduce to you the celebrated geographic traveller, the Hon. John Forrest, Minister of the Lands & Surveyor General of the great Crown territory of W.A. — and you will be all the more interested in him when I say that he is a native colonist of W.A.

He could doubtless aid in tracing the remains of Diprotodon and others of the Giant Animals of former geologic epochs, so lucidly described by you, over the wide area, the surveys of which are under his supreme surveillance.

Ever regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Sir Rich. Owen
