Easterday/1887.1
Several letters from you, dear Mr Dyer, have just been kindly sent me by the Governor.2 Best thanks for all goodness. The Cordyceps Taylori was described many years ago by Berkeley,3 and as you have the Rev Gentleman’ collections at Kew, it seemed to me unnecessary, to forward one of the few specimens to Kew also.4
However as you wish to possess this fung from the new locality likewise, I send you the best of three specimens left5 If I do not write much for some weeks to come, it will be, because I shall have to hurry part I of the “Key”6 through the press.
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
It is very generous of Mr Baker, to let me share in the authority of the new Trichomanes.7
What a rich display of remarkable forms in the new parts of the Icones.8
I always subscribe for the Office; so your presentation copy remains in my bid9 of private library; if not given away to encourage further searches for ferns &c10
